The Panasonic KX-T7735 is the top model in
the new series.
It
has a "J-type" handset, an illuminated display
that can show
three lines of text, 24 programmable buttons
(12 have LEDs),
a 2.5mm headset jack, and two-position tilt-up
bracket. The
round navigator key at lower right adjusts
receive volume and
display contrast. There is a separate three-position
switch for
ringer volume.
Panasonic
says this model is compatible only with the
new KX-
TA624-4 control unit, but the only limitation
we've found is that
other control units can't activate the lower
two lines on
the display.Other models will work with all
KX-T analog and
digital control units,even ancient analog
308, 616, 1232.

COMMENTS...
- Some
features of the new 7700 series analog phones, such
as the 2.5mm headset jack, navigator key, and high-visibility
ringing/message light, will be incorporated in the
7600 series digital phones due in 2003.
- The
2.5mm headset jack is a great convenience and saves
space and money because it eliminates the need for
an external headset/handset switchbox. Unfortunately,
the first phones we tested had low headset volume.
We hope this problem will be corrected promptly.
- Handset
cords are asymmetrical, and plug into the phone
bottoms, like the 7400 series digital phones.
- The
dual-angle stand is a great advance, and makes it
easier to see displays and tap buttons. You probably
won't need a tilt-up bracket. Phones can be wall
mounted, too. They fit closer to the wall than other
KX-T system phones.
- Styling
is terrific. The DSS/BLF is particularly good looking.
Non-display phones are very elegant. Phones look
nice from the sides -- important for wall mounting.
- As
with the recent 7300 series phones, there are no
orange buttons to clash with room decor. The HOLD
button is gray and easy to find.
- The
thin and wide "J" handsets look great, but some
people prefer the feel of the thicker and narrower
"K" handset used on digital phones and 7000 series
analogs in the US.
